Hi Marcia ! Congratulations on your blog. It's a great idea especially to those of us that enjoy hearing from you more than once a month. I'm not at all surprised that you received an invitation to meet Felipe Calderon. Did you get a chance to ask him any questions? Two questions that I would like him to respond: 1) Don't you think that handing over the Grand Costa Maya Project from Fonatur to the less extensive but more willing State of QR be a more ecologically friendly strategy for the area? 2) With that in mind, would you be willing to release Fonatur from the project? What are your thoughts Marcia? Again congratulations and please keep up the great work. Carlos Loya Reply to this

I wish I could say that I talked to him, but I chose to sit in front of the podium and not along the isles where I could be in a position to talk to him. He was only in Mahahual about an hour.
Regarding Fonatur- they are only going to finish the Malecon. I'm not sure that the state will do any better job. They haven't shown themselves to be too ecologically friendly. Since the plans are already in place - I think the funding which was already approved just needed a little push because of the fact they have to go through the mangroves. I'm not sure the town needs 6 km of pedestrian walkway, but somehow someone thought it needed it.
